My old hammer mill worked off a pulley. Had a PTO one fixed to the back of a Nuffield. Was about 15 feet long and was a bugger to line up. Ha ha. Nightmare Elf n Safety
And a pulley saw bench on a Major

thought we were the dogs rubbish when we got a PTO driven bench that fitted on the link arms too !!

My dad used to crush with a flat belt driven big old hunt roller mill, it had hammer mill and a roller mill combined. He used to run it with a db 850 which had belt pulley on. Lining up was a art form [emoji848]
That old Mill used to make a wonderful rumbling noise... Mum used to put a tea towel on the court gate to say it was time to stop [emoji16]

Have a 46 inch blade rack saw still using a flat belt with a fergi pulley so that it simply connects to a pto shaft rather than having to line the flat belt up every time.

Quite probably :). Anyone else used to have a bag of sand ready to throw some onto the belt if it started to slip?
The benefit of the saw bench on the 135 is that if the belt slips you adjust the tension by tweaking the lift arm height. As for H&S - the belt is reasonably well out of the way so not easily accessible & doesn't represent a significant hazard - unlike the angry end that has limited guarding & very sharp teeth moving quite fast. Fortunately I own & use the kit as a private individual for my own use rather than as part of the farming business so I don't have to worry about HSE slapping a prohibition notice on me.
