Yep, I still use a flat belt on the MF135 & Fergie sawbench, replaced it a couple of years back as the old one had gotten a bit threadbare! Is there anyone still using flat belt on side pulley on major or rear pulley on fergi on dexta to drive sawbench or other machine
My father used to use a belt driven sawbench. A big log kicked back off the blade once and knocked him out. He woke up 10 minutes later, got to his feet and carried on sawing.
Still have!! Shaft with bearings at either end mounted on really thick wood beams. Shaft has 4 or 5 pulleys mounted on it.We used to have a shaft running across the barn with pulleys for all sorts of different bits of kit, mills, cake crushes, even a bag hoist. Only the bearings are left in the walls now.
Quite probably . Anyone else used to have a bag of sand ready to throw some onto the belt if it started to slip?if I say yes is this going to to start a hse debate again
The benefit of the saw bench on the 135 is that if the belt slips you adjust the tension by tweaking the lift arm height. As for H&S - the belt is reasonably well out of the way so not easily accessible & doesn't represent a significant hazard - unlike the angry end that has limited guarding & very sharp teeth moving quite fast. Fortunately I own & use the kit as a private individual for my own use rather than as part of the farming business so I don't have to worry about HSE slapping a prohibition notice on me.Quite probably . Anyone else used to have a bag of sand ready to throw some onto the belt if it started to slip?
