Does spig & socket on twin wall plastic drain pipe keep out roots?

I would say that some roots ie willow are so determined and they might push in even that joint The only thing that will avoid the problem completly for piece of mind is ir is a solid run of pipe.

Presume you mean non perforated,someone once told me to put a hessian bag of road salt on top of a drain going through or near willows it slowly leaches in the pipe and stops roots growing

If near trees then yes the rubber seal will certainly make the difference. It won’t ALWAYS stop the root ingress but will limit it. If you use the rubber seals, make sure you still get the pipe fully into the socket and not just past the rubber seal.
