Alot if shires use a satellite mapping application service, portland shire does and many in qld, wentworth nsw do as well.

The program automatically scans the image yearly and reports kn trees missing, new roofs visible etc that werent there last year.

Its been around a fair while, this is how they deal with unauthorised buildings and illegal tree felling etc.

All done from the comfort of there office and they dont even have to search themsleves.

Im not sure what they do in this shire but i will permit what ever i build in case they bring the service in and get a notice to remove.

None of that wisbang stuff in 2006. But you can see it from the main road in the district. Plus all the council staff drive past the farm every day.

Tbh they probably didn't notice it. It's only that I'm realising how unobservent most people are when driving.

So if you put a camouflage net over it tthey wont see it?

Not necessarily, its looking for anomolies from the year before, you can code it to detect anything, obviously ploughed fields that wrte green grass they have no interest in...intil the environment laws come in...then youre screwed...and this is how they will do it.

If your only permitted to plow 10% of the land or x trees etc etc...it can all be picked up.

Its not AI its hard coded.

If minesites breach waste dump limits or ground disturb without authorisation this is how they do it on mass scale easily. Some mines in qld got stung for this and it was expensive.

Illegal clearing on farms is a big one over here.

Don't worry they do notice still if you live on the right road. Opa didn't have the appropriate permit for our freestall. 20m by 200m. They did notice that.

Some of rural new comers neighbours have some housing structures that I'm not sure are permitted. Was hoping the place wouldn't be subject to housing approval. Might make it a little cheaper.
Wouldn't have been the shed that was the issue. More the intended use. If it was a hayshed no one would bat an eyelid.

I would suggest @Ben B that you never move to the Edward River shire (Deni and former Conargo shire). Planning officer there is a bìťćh on a power trip

No intention of going out that way anyway.

I notice alot of sheds in uk dont seem to have alot of wind protection in some cases, i understand ventilation is key...but for beef steers or heifers, i assume the aim of the game is to stop wind and rain flowing over the animals body disapating energy...

Also bedding...i was planning to spread over whole floor and scarifier in every couple of days, but after watching this vid maybe theres a better way of just keep it heaped up???

To go full deep.litter barn you need alot of wood chips like a metre deep.

Im just trying to do on the cheap and give some good night time bedding out of wind and rain.

our 'healthiest' shed, is where we put the cattle in, before finishing the 'sides', 20 yrs ago, the sides are still not up !
converted to cubicles 10 yrs ago, still works well.

ventilation, and draught, are different, its draught that causes problems, and poor ventilation.

that shed housed young calves, 3-12 months old, before the cubicles went in, for dairy cows. Both did well.

bedding is what is cheapest, here we use straw for both straw yards, and cubicles, the fym produced, is a good soil conditioner, and reduces fert requirements.

Define draught versus wind?

when led down, no air movement, when stood up you can feel the wind. I like to set fire to some oily rags, in a bucket, in a shed, and watch how/where the smoke does, cheap, cheerful but accurate.

baby calves will stand a lot of bad weather, if they can get out of the wind/draught, give them plenty of straw to nestle down in (y)
animals have evolved to withstand weather, as long as fed, sheltered, they survive.

was watching a vid last night, that rancher had built a 30x20 barn, in two halves, and on skids, so moveable, for calving
