When they go around a tree is there a computer to control seed rate or do they continue throwing the same amount of seed to the outside (which is now going twice as fast as normal) as there is to the inside which is hardly moving?

Does he want a drop of rain to slack the dust

The thing to remember is we are neatly always planting into a dry surface, but placing the seed into moisture underneath. Rule of thumb on heavy country is to only plant when you have at least a metre of stored sub soil moisture.
It's not a case of planting into dust & just hoping it will rain . . .
That's why zero till is the standard farming system here - to conserve soil moisture

Why on earth planting an area that size would you mess about trying to make it tidy round a couple of random trees? The amount of time wasted bears no resemblance to the area gained..........the whole operation has taken 7 minutes of time and fuel (and maybe extra seed) most of which will never be got back.

With 2 seed carts there will be at least 2 different seed sections. I don't know if there is any further subdivision of seed rates within each half. I doubt it.

I really really thought that for once this post was going to be all about dentistry in Melbourne!

Strewth! Why on why does this forum never ever feature articles on Antipodean orthodontic matters?

Zells are just down the road a bit, to the west, of the home base of these cotton strippers I've been running for the last 3 months

My own planting equipment at home is a bit more modest.

I have 2 x 8 m planters, one is a single disc the other is an old modified heavy duty tyne cultivator, both on 333 mm row spacings.

I have a 12 m double disc precision planter on 1 m row spacings & a 12 m double disc machine on 250 mm row spacing

All zero till

I do contract planting work, which is why I have a selection :), I wouldn't have that many just for me, but I would still need a precision / double disc on metre or wider rows & winter crop planter on 333 mm or thereabouts row spacings
