Drilling OSR

Aye-up,

I was asked today if I could crack on and get some lime spread early next week because they want to drill OSR before the week is out.

As a lime spreading contractor, I don’t stand a chance, do I?

I feel your pain....although I’ve not got anyone screaming about that at the moment. Staying ahead of the game is not easy at all.

I didn’t see it actually go in the ground, but I am pretty sure the land behind my house has been drilled with rape already! And that was three days ago, or maybe four? It was still friggin July ffs!
I don’t know much about the job, but is that not a bit early?

Whether it's lime spreading, silage making or anything else it gets earlier every year. The only thing that doesn't change is the customer's expectation that you'll be there yesterday.

The point being, we can’t spread the lime until the ground is clear and in a showery season with wet straw lay around I can see I’ll have about two days window on each farm.

I know of some osr been planted 10 days ago after barley to see if it’s better for flea beetle.
