Drive entrance convex traffic mirrors?

I have erected a cheap convex traffic mirror , so that I can see vehicles approaching a very sharp bend at the end of our drive,as I have to drive across the sharp right angled bend to access our drive. The trouble with the mirror is that when one sees a vehicle in it the vehicle is on top of you so as to speak. I want a mirror that a can see a vehicle "clearly" approaching from a 100yds or so.
Has any one else experienced the same problem, is it because the mirror lense is of poor quality ? Any suggestions welcome,the idea of the mirror is great if only I could see vehicles approaching "clearly/distinctly from a greater distance.

A farmer in our village has one opposite his drive. Without it, you wouldn't see anything coming from the right at all. I know exactly what you mean so if I can see any vehicle at all in the mirror, I don't move.

I could do with a camera on a gate post pointing up the road that would bluetooth to the car screen somehow.

Got to be careful that drivers headlights don't reflect back into their eyes. I've heard that Highways don't like mirrors.

they get nicked round here all the time - I swear you could probably buy your own mirror back the same day from eBay !!

Yes you need a flat mirror or one with a very slight curve, there was one i seen , it was very slight curve in middle but more curved on edges, it was good
