Driving license telehander plus trailer

Location

I’ve been made aware this morning that it is illegal to tow a trailer behind a telescopic loader unless in possession of a trailer towing license for younger drivers.

Tractors fine as they are an ag vehicle but apparently not loaders.
Older driving licences not affected.

Anyone know anything about this.

The driver is qualified to drive a telescopic loader

A new Cat BE license only covers a driver to tow a trailer up to 3,500kg so has no bearing on the teleporter question, .
The older BE licence before 2013 had no trailer weight limit ( although of course any conventional car, van 4wd is normally limited here anyway, due to breaking systems )
The suggestion is that non agricultural vehicles need to have C1 + E .
Some teleporters would need the driver to be over 21 due to weight limits on agricultural vehicles other than tractors

Most but not all telehandlers are now homologated as tractors, hence the need for dual line brake systems on them.
Check what your machine is and go from there.
