Going to the show on Saturday., never been before plan on driving up from Northumberland up the A68. Will the traffic be horrendous ? The other option is the train from Berwick. Any advise would be welcome.

Traffic near the show ground will be increased though nothing to worry about, roads to the site are easy to navigate.
Plan your route, get their early, leave early
Be a lot less ( commuter) traffic compared to Thursday & Friday
The online booking has reduced/controlled the numbers for each day

Best advice is get there early, and I mean early, need to aim to be at show ground by 9am or earlier to miss the traffic, east car park was full by 10,30 last year, luckily we spotted the queues just before the forth bridge turn going up A1/city bypass so slipped off and went around to west car park, if you get the train there will be shuttle bus from George street (short walk from Waverley) which will drop you at the east gate, last time I used it a few years ago it was £8 return, if you are taking car have you pre booked your parking ticket !!

The traffic used to be really bad going to the show but it has improved, still get there early.
Personally I only go because I always have and have had a membership for a good few years.
I dont really enjoy it any more.
Everything you buy is expensive and it has become so beaurocratic.
They complain about being short of money yet the figures are in the millions. Last year half the toilets were broken at 8am on day 1.
Landword, the pretend farming program is normally there which should really be called Food court tv, I cant be bothered with the food court but get dragged there.
There is a new members area for Auld Deers that I cant go into because my partner isnt a member and I only went into the old one once, hence knowing its for Auld Deers. Im not paying £X to get her in.
I just dont enjoy it any more.

And.. why oh Effing why is half the west car park taken up with a marquee for the Hoory or Hooterie or whatever it is called when the showground is at its busiest?
Forward parking for members seems to be on a need to know basis and that is normally a different road to the same carpark as non members?
I saw no alcohol signs in the sheep tent last year, thankfully nobody gave a toss. Do they not realise these people spend more time with their dogs than humans, they need the socialising?
Who runs the show, well in the photo of several hundred Auld Deers and some men standing proud as the committee, one was a minister? Please remember it is an agricultural show and bring Back the tractors to hurl people round the show and trust me, nobody will get hurt. If they do, present them with a Darwin award.
The very best show I go to is the Dumfries Classic Tractor Show. Its laid back, toung in cheek and draws all sorts. Its brilliant compared to the Highland.
I wonder what RBS will be like this year for a coffee, one thimble and coffee hand ground with a pencil sharpener and ques out the door reaching Mcdonalds? What happened to a jug of cheap coffee?
Anyone remember SAI? I alwas thaught it was brilliant you got French Fancies and a book of matches. Now you see people walking around with a tree they can plant and water????

Traffic in the morning is always hellish although post covid we have went up on the Wednesday for all 4 days.

Food is an absolute rip off, £10 for a burger, £6.50 for a pint so you may want to bring a picnic or M&S has a stand that functions as a small shop where you can buy your lunch and what not which at the 'heilan' is the budget option.

Sure you know, but just to avoid the risk of disaster you can't buy a ticket on the day, has to be pre-bought.

Members restaurant probs full of of aul dears but the bit outside has plenty of us young farmers that have the membership for the 4 days ticket, along with many of our parents and what not. Its nice because it keeps the riff raff and rough men from Ireland out 😂

Just get up early traffic won't be top bad till 9/10 ish whether you come up the A68 or A1 it'll make no odds aa you'll end up in the same queues near the showground

Traffic from the M8 was bad. The lights at Newbridge were off and the police not doing anything.
Perhaps if the whole carpark was used it would help on Saturday rather than leaving an acre in the center of the west carpark empty, greening possibly?
Still, when you get in its ok, I particularly like people just stalling for no reason in front of you. One in the Aldi stand couldn't decide if he wanted quarter of a chilli burger or quarter of a chilli burger, eventually he went for the quarter of a chilli burger.

There's sod all left of the east car park left these days unless you're in early you may as well head to the west

Took an hour to get the last 2 miles into show this morning the n once incpark was as far away from entrance as we have ever been 20 min walk before you actually get in I still really enjoyed the show but these issues are annoying
