Drones

Not a cheap bit of kit then! Can it be justified against something like the dji phantoms? Not sure I would be brave enough to put an expensive camera under it.
One of the things I see with it is I fly for business so charging a company the rate for a day which is very close to the RRP of a Phantom is a little off and I know of people who fly Phantoms have been asked why are you charging the same rate as your craft.
I had a phantom and I can tell where the money has been spent with the S900 yes Phantoms have come on leaps and bounds over the years but it still look like a toy and charging to fly and turning up with a craft that looks like a toy is not on in my book ( People are free to do as they choose but I don't like it)
So here is a early Phantom video using a Go-pro
Here is the S900 with a GH4 camera ( This was my 1st flight with the new S900

Thanks for explaining that makes sense! All the best in doing it.

is that the panasonic lumix gh4 camera i think yuneec do one with that camera now

We found the cheaper Lumix cameras were ideal for model aircraft photography. You could pick up various ex-stock or shopsoiled ones online for under £200, and the beauty of the compact models was that they would take pics at 1/sec until the card was full, which would give you a few hundred pics in a single flight. No complicated/heavy controls were needed once the plane was launched. A simple foam model of a Cub for £100 could handle the camera and would effectively remain stationary into a reasonable breeze. I'll try and find some pics to demonstrate, but the results were surprisingly good and pleasing. :)

@Dave Franciosy are you using 2nd person for FPV with the s900 or are you doing it with an FPV screen yourself as its very impressive and centralised, very envious....
What do you think of the zenmuse x5 setup on the inspire 1, have you had anything to do with it?. The x3 camera seems ok and looks as if its modifiable if you ever want to use it for NDVI agronomy work.

If you were operating within the law and your drone was hit by an RAF jet at 120m, I reckon you would have a claim against the MOD and not the other way round

In theory, you're correct, but that wouldn't stop the subsequent ban on drones: I doubt there would be much sympathy for the drone pilot.

They won't ban drones. I don't know what drones have done to you or whether you're just jealous because you don't own one but you seem stuck on this idea of banning them.

Remote control helicopters and planes have been around for years so what's the difference with a drone why do they need banning?

Ha, take no notice, I'm just been a miserable old git. Yes, I'd like a go with one actually, but I'd probably soon get board, so not worth me splashing out.

I do think there's a real danger though: when these things reach a certain level of capability, affordability, and popularity, then there is serious risk of considerable harm being caused through their misuse. People can be so bloody stupid!

That's when they'll make licenses to fly them compulsory, like with cars they only brought the driving test in when the roads turned into death traps

Hello I am flying single person control the camera via the rear controls on my remote. not used the X5 yet but I have heard good things about it and it should be good as the camera alone is £1800 with the addition of different lens.
