Dry cows on straw courts

i currently have a dry cow cubicle shed at another steading about a mile away so all cows need transported to and from when they go dry, this is a bit of a pain as it takes time also sometimes cows calf early in cubicles etc etc,
What I was thinking was buying a speacial offer shed from local shed supplier 100x50 for 20k including panels to eventually put cubicles in it, but for time being just concrete the front 15ft for a scrape pass and then just have a straw bedded pen, I have loads of straw available so for this winter not an issue
Question 1 how many cows would this shed hold?
Question 2 would I get more mastitis in fresh cows?
Any other reasons why not to do it?

50-75 cows. The more cows (probably over 50) the more straw you will need and the greater risk of mastitis. Muck it out every couple of weeks and it’ll be fine.

I don't think you will get much more than 30 i'm afraid. By the time you take off a scrape passage you wont have that much lying area, too many and you just end up with them in a mess especially on wet days.

That's a cheap shed. £2 per square foot. An elephant recently quoted me over. £10 per square foot! Although it did have a small mezzanine floor.

Its £4/foot isnt it?

Although still cheap including panels.

100 square foot is what you need for a cubicle shed all in per cow, that shed would fit 50 cows in cubicles, ball park your 100' of feed again does 50.
