In the past I've used vertical pedestals and lishman fans to help cool hay just wondered whether using these horizontally and blowing air through something like 6 inch draining pipe might be a better idea any other ideas welcome

when stacking leave a gap of a couple of inches between inside bales on bottom layer to create a few channels under the stack. into one of these channels put a konskild blower pipe and then stack bales to seal it in. when finished connect blower, acts like an on floor dryer.

I was thinking along the lines of drainage pipe with the ends blocked off arranged in a herringbone pattern following cracks in big bales and then forcing air through ?

It's really hard to get much air through big bales. It just goes round them. If you build the stack carefully you can probably blow a row at a time without pipes

An observation from last year when the bales are a bit sweaty the heat escapes up between cracks obviously better not to stack in that case but needs must sometimes

If you have a fan and narrow the gap between bales as you increase the height blowing it will force the sweaty air out

round bales , not easy and best left to cure in field.
big square bales are easy and dry well with a fan

They nearly want you to split every bale in half before buying, if its wrapped.
Hard to get good hay in a wet year ...........
