E. coli mastitis

One of my favourite cows came down with E. Coli mastitis just after calving. We’ve moved the calf from her and treated her with antibiotics tubes etc. I think 3/4 quarters could be saved and she will lose just one quarter. Is the baby ever able to go back to her? can she go back into the herd when the antibiotics course if finished and the milk has had the withdrawal as specified?
I really don’t want to loose her.

Check with the vet what antibiotics is best to use as you may aswell squirt antibiotics on the floor if its not the right type as use it on a ecoli cow. If she isnt drinking much you need to stomach pump her to keep her hydrated.

In my very limited experience, hydration is a biggy. One of our sucklers had it and was really down in the dumps. We drenched her and she never looked back.
