Early loan scheme for Scots farmers

The Scottish government has promised to pay out Sfp in the form of a loan, payments will be made in October, this is to help farmer who are struggling with the weather related problems. This is good news but what happens next year when were are out of the eu, don't think the UK government will be so generous. Will we get any sub in 2019?

They aren't doing anything different to any other year.

Just this time they've told the media so it can be spun to sound like Scotgov are doing something for Scottish farmers to look like the good guys

It's got f**k all to do with you, or I. But to Joe Bloggs voters who are not part of the industry it is a good PR story to win votes.

That is very cynical, I am not an snp supporter but I do appreciate the fact that they have announced this early and we will be the direct beneficiary’s of this payment. I always believe in giving credit where it is due.(y)

IF it is paid in October is that not a fair bit earlier than the last couple of years, which has to be appreciated.

I'm not knocking the SNP or Scotgov. IMO they are doing a far better job than Westminster, but I'm not so naive to be unable to see they are spinning this for their own good.

That's not a criticism, as such, it's called politics.

I always believe in giving credit where it is due too:

If you've had to deal with the ScotGov, the education system (or whats left of it), the ambulance service (friend / farmers daughter drives for them), or know anyone that works for Police Scotland (the rebranded 'Poisonous Alba'); then cynicism is all you'd have left.

The loan scheme has nothing to do with compassion, it's an avoidance measure to prevent the EU administration fining and publicly shaming ScotGov, and to cover up the fact that the botched £180 million IT system is beyond repair:

- It's nothing more than Fergus Ewing polishing a turd.

And if you knew anything, you'd know Richard Lochhead spent 2 years fighting this IT system!
He said it wouldn't work and he did not want to implement it. But the NFUs fought hard to get it. Now maybe Lochhead was too weak, or maybe for once NFUs used their power - but it was their model which was used. And as soon as it became apparent it was going to fail, NFUs distanced themselves and have been kicking the govt. ever since.

If you want to blame anyone for the turd Fergus Ewing is trying to polish, then it is the NFUs.

Yes it was October last year, lm not a fan of the snp either, but l think they try there best for farmers, but that payment to help with the cost of dead ones in the spring was a joke. I got 40£, it cost 18 to get one sheep lifted.

The mapping is an EU problem, and has been for several years...

But don't let the Scotgov bashers tell you otherwise.

So if the French screw up their IT system it makes it OK for ScotGov to waste £180 million of tax payers money?

At least it makes a change from blaming all their f**kups on 'Westminster' :D
