Early or Not ?

Sitting quietly out in a field yesterday and was approached by some pheasant chicks and the hen bird. Chicks were probably 3 or 4 days old,what are other forum members noticing around the country considering we have had frosty mornings for a fortnight ?

Lots of newly hatched goslings appearing on our lakes in the last few days.

The (remaining ) pheasants here are too busy eating my corn to bother with rumpy pumpy yet I reckon.

Young starlings have flown the nest in the last day or so, currently feeding from the fat balls in the garden making a right racket!

I was just thinking yesterday that my deer seem to be a bit later calving than usual. Only 4 calves so far but of course that suits fine for them really considering the weather we have had and the slow grass growth. I don't think the rut was any later so was wondering if they have some ability to prolong pregnancy a little to suit conditions.
