I don’t know of anyone that’s breeding pure Texels that shed, but I do know that @gatepost has a bought in stock ram that does (proper hair sheep type, rather than just a ‘peeler’). Top end index with all his ebvs in balance too.👍
Very happy with the progeny of one of his sons here anyway, and have a few progeny from the shedding father (via AI) that are looking ok too.
Come on then @gatepost..... What can you sell me!!! 💷 💵💰

There are Texels out there that shed down to a decent hair type skin ---it's not perfect skin wise but pretty good

Well your up early! What an opening for advertising :) . Yes I have a few shearling rams that have shed completely like their father, you can look him up on Itexel, Smith Desperate Dan. Basically grass fed with a bit of help to get them fit enough to work, we are at 900ft on HLS ground. I support Ram compare like @neilo, after 7 yrs and 38500 slaughter records I have 3 tups in the top 6 Texels incl the top 2. Oh and I make most of my living from selling prime lambs. Is that a good enough sell? only time will tell?
