I have advocated this sort of thing for years; education is the silver bullet, if it is working properly it can make nearly every other societal problem go away. The UK needs such a system; can't see many parents - or students - disagreeing with it, the only problems will come from teaching unions and their friends...

S*d them I say, the country's and its children's future are too important to be held back by their dogma; all we need to get this are competent and unwavering politicians, from whatever party... :banghead:

I think I told the story(It's true) earlier in a thread but. We had our Harvest Festival in October as usual, now we have some enthusiastic new residents in the village, a QC his, wife and family, most of the family are of University age but he has a daughter in the 6th form in a central London school. I usually put some ample bags of the grains and pulses we grow at the altar. I gave Alice them afterwards and she took them to school, I have not been told if they used them but she also took them to a Brownie group she helps at and they showed them to the kids. One of the brown owls was a teacher and she asked Alice if she could have them. She took them to school, obviously in London and used them.

Very interesting. Independence, meritocracy, low taxation, integration with business leading to world beating results. Fantastic.

The unions will never buy it.
