Efficency of ice builder

Are these worth the bother or cost was thinking of installing one to run ice water through a second plate cooler to have milk entering tank about 4 degrees however ice after morning milking has to be rebuilt during day so only one milking would benefit from off peak i also was advised ice bank tanks are less efficent there certainly not insulated like a dx so with all the cost and bother is it worth haveing an ice builder or just let the tank cool after one plate cooler thanks

Just spend the money on a better tank cooling system, we’ve recently put a new tank in, the difference is amazing normally down to 4 as the last cow goes out.

That was my thoughts too new tanks are so well insulated and efficent at least one milking would be cool on off peak with little hassle.

We had 2 tanks a 5k and 3k both were eod cooling so weren’t able to cool the amount of milk we were putting in each milking. It was a pain in the arse especially on hot days. We’ve got a 10k tank with 2 5hp compressor’s works a treat

Put the second plate cooler after the first but split the water between them.
The faster the flow of water , or a greater quantity the better (, or 2 different sources) ,and try slowing the milk through the system if possible !!!
Unless you build ice from your own electric or have a good off peak rate , then making ice , isnt that great ,IMO!!
