Eid cattle tags Scotland

You'll still need a stick. Or at least practice louping over gates or fences.

They haven't decided what kind of tag they are even using yet, I believe the English are going for a LF tag which is totally stupid IMO, so that will dictate that we either do the same, or that we use a dual tag.

There is no iso standard for the HF tags. I see the benefit of HF tags to the abattoirs and auctions but not farmers

You can double tag with UHF for a start, it's not an option with LF.

I don't think the EID tags will come in until 2021 but could well be wrong.

I am hoping England use LF and change the numbering system of UK animals and then use LF WYSIWG tags

Agree, as a man on the borders if they go HF tags, would you have to put 3 tags in if you sold into England, if they use LF tags?

I don’t know no one knows it’s shambolic and when they kill Bcms and start with Scott eid it will get really bad Scott eid imo is shyt

They all have to be WYSIWYG

No they won't, if England use LF, Scotland will use a dual tag.

Why do you prefer LF?

At the moment there is no set standard for readers to read HF tags, the LF tag tech seems to work perfectly well, just the numbering system that needs changing. There is no guarantee that the current readers on the market will work with HF tags and there is no requirement for them to do so. Plus the chips in HF tags are currently very brittle

I was talking about Scotland and England, but it is likely that Wales and England will be running different systems too as Wales will use ScotEID as their backend system

I don't like ScotEID the way it is at all. I don't really see the reason to scrap BCMS. But back to the tags, if they see sense and use UHF tags then it could mean we do away with paper passports as the tag holds a lot more info, so there's one benefit for the farmers
