Electric centrifugal fan issue

I have a hertz biomass boiler with a centrifugal fan that draws the air through. It has cut out tonight because the control panel is saying the fan is running at 100% when in fact it isn’t turning. What would make a the fan sensor tell the control panel it was turning when it isn’t?!.

Depends on the control setup with the fan motor, but it could be a proximity sensor, that’s gone faulty (or the wiring to it).

On the other hand, if it’s a brushless DC motor then the electronic circuitry which makes the motor run will also directly inform the rpm.

So more info needed on the motor and associated wiring if you know it.

Hi Jim, we have 13 full time biomass engineers, as we are the UK agent for Herz most are pretty competent on Herz, and we keep a good stock of Herz parts. Make contact if we can help. [email protected]
