Got a battery operated electric fencer unit that is not working properly.
It is sparking where the earth terminal clip attaches to the earth stake.
Stake is a galvanised joining pin from a cattle hurdle chapped in is far as it will go.
Could it just be the dry ground that is causing it or is there likely to be another cause for this?
Stake has been in the same place on clay land for 5 years and never had a problem before and was reading 8.5kv on the meter last week before it started sparking at the earth.
