i normaly just use a spare post to push the wire aginst the ground or netting etc. soon hear it cracking if there is much kick
Tried a multimeter on an electric fence once, meter never worked again after it.How do these fault finders work? Can I achieve the same with a multi meter?
Electric fence voltage is much too high for multi meter. How do these fault finders work? Can I achieve the same with a multi meter?
my neighbour will grab the wire and tell you it isnt working!!bloody barstweardWe used to have a neighbour, who, every time he visited would tell me the fence wasn't working, in fact he would insist on touching it to show it wasn't working and after a couple of seconds would curse and jump back.
But he moved.
got a gallagher shows kv well and clearly/reliably but its very expensive, hopefully it will be a long lasting thing. not used it on fault finding though.
what about one of these....... https://www.electric-fence.co.uk/voss-farming-fence-tester-digital.html
ah,.. but i also like fiddling with technical stuff .....I got the £9.95 version off that website, when I bought some other stuff. It seems to work very well, but I'm already wondering why I bothered. I've fenced sheep, cattle and horses in with electric fences for over 30 years (leccy fences have been used on the farm a long time before that too) without ever having a 'tester'. If you put your foot on the wire, or lean a metal stake against it, and it gives a good 'crack', then you'll be right.
