Has anyone on here recently put a electric gate up? if so what company supply the actuators and I'd prefer one with a key pad option as well as a fob what's the best types swing and pulled by actuator or the ones that run on a track? we've never had electric gates fitted before.

I’ve had an automated gate for coming up 14 years, same motor but replaced the pcb when it got damp.

Have a keypad and phone control gave up with the fobs, you just set the gate as a speed dial and ring before you get to it (doesn’t charge for the call).

I used came equipment https://www.fhbrundle.co.uk/product...ng_Gate_Operator_Includes_Encoder_Single_Gate

It isn’t high security but keeps the riffraff opportunist out,If you want Fort Knox your best with a big sliding gate.

Thankyou that defiantly looks like what I'm looking for not too bothered about high security just want to be able to stop unwanted visitors at the bottom of the lane away from the farm if they need to be in they have my number to get a code ECT.

I’ve bought a couple of new keypads that can have 100 different codes, this means each person can have their own entry number.

Looking to build a cantilever gate for my yard soonish, building the gates easy I can get a kit for the rollers/track etc and do the groundwork’s.
What I am struggling with is finding an electric kit to open it as it’ll have to be 12v or solar !.

Fhbrundel Supplied the kit that’s a challenge in its self as the mag lock required isn’t no there web. your need to speak to came to get the list of parts required then f h brundel to supply.
Haven’t got any more of the new gate but the first gate I did last yr is the same (pretty much) apart from hinges are now on the corner so there’s no pitch point.

We use fobs on three sets of electric gates, never had a problem with them. All professionally fitted though and on mains leccy.
Our roadside drive gate is too far to be on mains so we had it on a battery powered wheel drive with a big solar panel, but it could never keep enough charge to be trouble free. Not enough charge time in winter, and too much traffic in summer, and when it ran down it always stopped half open which was actually dangerous. Gave up in the end and now back to manual

If this is a farm gate it has to be metal like the above and attached to RSJs. It has to look like if you ram-raid it you will come off worse. Wood or posh gates are not going to stop the usual suspects from entering your premises, the above gate will put them off try to ram it.

Why did you give up with the fobs ?
we're in the process of making one just now and was going to go with the fobs but are they unreliable ?
Because if you ring the gate at a set point (1/4mile away) it’s open when you get to it,no waiting.
With 15 vehicles I’d need 15 fobs on the key rings, also when you have the phone control you can be anywhere in the world and let someone in.

Exactly y I didn’t want a phone system if you can’t see the gate shouldn’t be opening it . what if some is climbing over / under ? Key fobs only work close and can see the gate to be sure it’s clear. I know they have sensors covering some parts, but you never know.

Mine is on Fobs and telephone, I was advised against keypads as they are the first thing to fail and a determined person can open the a short the wire to open the gate.
