Electricity poles / wayleaves etc.

Got this firm PCC looking at the pole in my garden. They said they could get compo for the effect on the value of my house. This was many months ago and they have now written a letter saying that I should have heard from Western Power about some new 14 year wayleave or some such, or I could accept the offer on the table (which I had no idea about) less their fees. It's not a vast amount but would be useful.

Any thoughts on this? I'll obviously need to hear from WP but would I be selling my soul? Should I stick to the wayleave concept?

Unless its a really worthwhile amount leave well alone, it will still be available to sell in years to come if needed.
cegb are always trying to buy the free holds of pylons so there must be big advantages for them especially on the older agreements
railway is trying this for level crossings now..

I had a ten year backdated way leave from Southern Electric - I went direct to them though via help from @blondeagadvisor's blog

This sounds like a one off payment, up front, rather than drip fed annually. WPD will still have access. You will have just had the cash. You don't need an intermediary if you decide to take it in one hit.

It is a one off. I've got poles up the valley and get a yearly payment which just about covers hedge triming but was advised I could get more compo for this one as it is in the garden and may de-value the house. It does have a transformer .
