Went fishing the other day down at the rangitata mouth. Not very successful unless you are a fan of dog fish.
I did like the land between Fairlie and Geraldine. I could imagine us fitting in there. In fairlie at the moment for a wedding then back to methven on Saturday for another week. Then off to New Plymouth for 10 days then home and hopefully it won't be raining!!!!
I'll see if I can get some more for you.

I caught a ray somehow further up at wakanui a couple of years ago, pretty sure it was a fluke. Father in law caught some elephant fish around Christmas around there. Where abouts are you?Could have called for a brew you were just about passing
Don't think there's any Elephant fish out there at this time of year, more Nov/Dec. They put up a pretty good fight, nice with chips too

Went to tekapo today and on the way back had a nose the other side of fairlie and got as far as albury before the kids got bored. Will probably go via pleasant point to timaru on the way back as I haven't driven that road before and I've seen a fair bit of the rest of the areaI did like the land between Fairlie and Geraldine. Long straight roads are a nightmare. Give me windy stuff any day.I like Fairlie was there on Monday for the show. Gets a bit chilly in winter mind and they get a bit more snow than us.
I like the ground from Fairlie to Pleasant Point via Albury and Cave, bit more interesting than the flat stuff.

Then find some good old North Island back roads, they will make you sea sickLong straight roads are a nightmare. Give me windy stuff any day.
Lewis Pass and SH6 Nelson to Canvastown are fun too but the back road to @JD-Kid from Little River was a beautThen find some good old North Island back roads, they will make you sea sick

I wish I owned my place.Rent out the farm and go out there now and just find some farm work to tide you over. Explore a bit and decide what kind of farm etc you want and where.
My daughter No 2, went to Canada recently. She was looking to make a life there. It wasn't for her so she's back. In all honesty unless you've (@davieh3350) a pile of money or are under 25 I'd think you've got a reasonable set-up right now. OK you're not the owner but if you were would that make a huge difference? I went aged 30, looked & decided that the grass wasn't greener. My brother on the other hand went at 20 & stayed.....He's now got a lifestyle pretty similar to mine so in the end there's not that much difference. He's part time in the sheep farming & looks after convict built structures which are interesting in their own right.I wish I owned my place.
I want to do the same but to go to Canada instead. Only thing is, if I go the farm here pretty much goes for good.
