don't know if I would after seeing them used on pipe lines and bye passes , discovery on the pipe line was getting washed twice aday because the mess it was in with mud , you could get lucky but most of them would be driven with people with no mechanical sympathy and working on a day rate .

Not from SHB bit from another lease hire firm; I brought my 2005 Single Cab Ford Ranger direct from a lease hire firm in 2008.
It had been used for 3 years by the local council in the Wirral for towing the lawnmowers around. Had only done 23k miles and was immaculate (apart from worn drivers seat), full service history and new all terrain tyres. £5500 was far cheaper than anything else around at the time.

I’ve bought from SHB, and would again, bought over the phone went to pick it up looked great, got it home to find the mud flap falling off, further inspection showed it had been really badly repaired, took it back as they were going to swap it, the one they were trying to swap it with had also been badly repaired, after being told via email it hadn’t had any body work repairs.
Really bad experience

My last 2 HiLux have come from SHB. Been really pleased with them. Both were bought with relatively low miles. The second was put through their spray bay after it arrived from a northern depot with scratches on it. They did a good job where many firms would have looked to polish the marks out. 4 years on and its still tidy. I’d happily buy again from them, but like buying any vehicle, it pays to take some time and be choosy.

Has anyone bought end of lease vehicle direct from SHB?

No but we hire one when busy. It has any number of drivers so not cared for really. Its a work horse used for all the jobs we don't want to use our owned vehicles for. Lots of towing loaded fuel bowsers and carrying bags of sand in the pickup bed etc. Over the years I cannot recall one breaking down though so they must be cared for when back at the hire company.
