People's brains are getting smaller as IQ levels plummet over last 50 years

A leading expert has warned our children and their kids' future is at stake after poor diet is said to have contributed to a rapid drop in IQ levels over the past 50 years

People's brains are getting smaller and IQ levels have plummeted over the last 50 years because of poor diet, a leading expert has warned.

Professor Michael Crawford said the decline of our little grey cells could even lead to a doomsday scenario where humanity is wiped out.

The director of the Institute of Brain Chemistry and Human Nutrition blamed the crisis on our failure to eat enough oily fish.

And his theory explains why the likes of Gavin ‘Thicko’ Williamson and ‘Brainless’ Dominic Raab were able to get jobs at the heart of the British government.

In the last 50 years our IQ levels have dropped (stock) (Image: Getty Images/iStockphoto)
Prof Crawford told a Food for the Brain Foundation webinar: “IQ has been falling since 1970, and it’s really not very funny because if that continues, it could wipe out homo sapiens.

“There is a missing story about the importance of nutrition so far as the brain is concerned.“

There are no governments with any recommendations that are worthwhile about the brain, it’s all about body growth, and quite frankly, body growth is not the story of homo sapiens, the story of homo sapiens is the brain.

Scientists have claimed a poor diet has something to do with it (Image: Getty Images/iStockphoto)
“It really is terribly important because without getting this right before conception - in other words on a population basis - homo sapiens are really on the way down.”He said the average modern brain size is now around 17% smaller than the organs of our early ancestors.

Prof Crawford said: “It’s not just IQ that’s disintegrating, there’s very good evidence of shrinking of the brain.“This is really food for thought, that things are going topsy-turvy, they are going the wrong way.

They feel the results of the study should act as a warning for our children and their kids (stock) (Image: Getty Images/Image Source)
“What’s at stake is the future of our children and their children.”

A major study conducted by the institute in Indonesia found almost two million children suffering impaired mental development, but not in fishing villages.

And Prof Crawford said it was vital that women maintain a marine diet rich in omega-3 - a primary component of the human brain - over a long period of time before conception to aid their babies’ brain development through breastfeeding.

He added: “The marine foodweb tends to be forgotten these days, but it’s terribly, terribly important.”

Farmed oily fish do not have the same amount of Omega 3 fatty acids as wild fish. I believe a better way to ingest these fatty acids is to eat pasture fed and finished meat (as a pasture fed store animal is taken off a grass/forage based diet and finished intensively on grains it's omega 3 levels drop).

I think the answer for our health is stop all this Vegan food malarky, but also eat pasture finished meat. I strongly believe that we should get a very big premium for producing pasture fed meat.

I imagine that if any Star reader actually found the said webinar and watched it then the Prof would prob mention a few more nutritional factors than simply omega 3 oils.

Dr Georgia Ede, who is a proper giant in the field has been talking about mental decline linked to nutrition in the population for many years.

Best way to guarantee that is to buy organic certified food.

It all started when President Truman had a heart attack while in office.
The doctors knew it was caused either by too much Carbohydrate or Fat, but didn’t know which.
The Food industry lobbied and it was decided that Fat/cholesterol was the cause.

If we don’t eat enough Cholesterol, our livers will make it.
2/3rds of our brains are made from Cholesterol.
………….Then eventually Statins were invented and we were encouraged to eat them like smarties, once we hit 50.

Ever wondered why we see ever increasing levels of Type 2 Diabetes AND Alzheimers?

Type 2 diabetes is associated with hypertension and obesity. None of this is rocket science.

The levels of Alzheimer's/dementia and the like are rising because we are all living longer and we are better at diagnosing them. They are degenerative diseases of old age, largely. Hundreds of years ago people got pegged by infectious diseases long before they had a chance to worry about cancer or old age getting them.

I wonder if the two packets of cigarettes a day he smoked had any bearing on his heart attack?

I believe they are starting to call Alzheimer's type 3 diabetes now, due to it's relationship to Sugar consumption.

Same goes for milk, milk from grazed cows contains higher levels of omega 3

I do wonder about this oily fish though, catching fish would have been much harder than raising livestock for many generations now, and possibly even in the earlier evolution of our species. Was eating oily fish ever a big part of humans diet………….for those living inland at least

And until relatively recently in human evolution terms, all meat and dairy products would have come from pasture fed sources

You need a legal defined standard to ensure that the cows have a minimum period of grazing and forage in their diet... how can you do that.....
