Unless it's alongside 4 other minor non conformance or 1 major. Something the poster omitted to tell us.
Yes I had other minor non compliances, the key was left in the drug cabinet door, I had out of date calcium in the cupboard and I have pitting on my tank room floor. It’s people like you that are all that is wrong about Arla. You categorise me in the same category as the farm in the video. Less time chasing the people that are good farmers and falling foul of stupid rules that are nothing to do with brand protection and more time stopping the actual farmers that bring the whole industry in to disrepute. That’s what’s needed.

I'm not sure of the rights or wrongs of what is going on we just need to remember this thread was reactivated by the people that took the covert footage
Said covert footage was taken by an ex dairy farmer sick to death of reporting animal welfare issues for over 12 months. His frustration led to taking the video. Do not try and move the blame over to animal activists out for a witch hunt. This is not a witch hunt. This is a man who can tell right from wrong and finally had enough.

Charlie and Tom deserve everything coming there way it’s disgusting.

As I said I am in no position to judge as I don't have the facts.

I hope that those that do make the right calls for the industry as a whole.

And I take my hat off to @Johnsmith2024 for what he has done.

As I said on the environment thread as farmers we must take more responsibility for policing our fellow farmers that are at risk of letting our whole industry down.

We also need to have the bodies that matter to then deal with it appropriately.

But trial by social media will never end up with a good outcome. However it is looking that exposure of non compliance by social media is unfortunately proving to be the only way to get people to take things seriously

I don't know Tom and I'm not defending the guy if everything seen is true but like most of these things I suspect there's another side to the story. My first assumption wouldn't be to believe everything said by a trespassing animal rights activist.

There are 30 calves in that group of which 10 look fine and 20 look terrible. If these are on a 5-700 cow unit that is shut down with tb then it's not that difficult to end up with 20 or so tail end calves hit by cocci or something else nasty that have then been pulled out into a separate group. @Johnsmith2024 says they'll never make good heifers, he didn't point out that half of of them are Hereford cross.

@Johnsmith2024 . You say you fed them that haylege but it appears to be from a large round or square bale. Did you borrow their handler to feed them?

Did you feed the other pens that are up eating where the stock look fine?
I can assure you that absolutely what you see on that video is true.I am the wife of said farmer who helped feed these poor calves my own horses hay.I live on the property attached to the farm…we ARE NOT trespassing animal rights activists, simply an ex farmer and his wife who care greatly about their own livestock. We were left no alternative but to feed these poor calves that were absolutely starving, having heard the blarting suggesting they were clearly unhappy. My job title I might add is also animal welfare within the police force,so to turn away and do nothing was simply NOT an option. For the record all machinery used to feed these calves was our own and was not taken without consent as suggested.
Evolution farming by mutual consent have agreed to end managing this and other farms in the area .
There is a great deal of other video evidence that has not yet been circulated

It would be acceptable to a milk buyer to shoot those calves in the video if a vet gave their say so. It's a welfare issue, the state of them, not forgetting the evident risk of a publicity problem. You would also have to prove a good plan not to let it happen again.
26 calves from that group were shot on site with the vets say so on welfare grounds.
Absolutely dreadful and totally avoidable

I can’t believe there’s not one member of staff on the farm that would go out of their way to put some feed out for them
It was over the Easter bank holiday weekend. We fed them for 4 days. One member of staff went home having not fed them because they had ‘completed their hours’
Evolution farming where do you start with them. Animal welfare from what I’ve seen is near to non existent. Most of the staff couldn’t tell you which end a cow sh#ts from. Any decent staff soon realise what it’s like and soon move on. Promise the earth and deliver nothing. They bring nothing but shame on the farming community.
totally agree
