I really dont like to although I bought a few mule gimmers in this week as was short on numbers. They were £140 and now i was thinking ive done wrong as could of bought mule ewe lambs at £80. Probably would be pushing it to tup them this winter but could run them on for £60 surely....

Probably you could winter them and part summer for a lot less than £60 but two points to make.
Would the £80 gimmers make £140 shearlings, I doubt it
You are straight into action with your gimmer shearlings.

We tup 150 texel x ewe lambs. I have tried big mule ewe lambs before and never thought they performed as well as 2 year olds on. Id be reluctant to spend big money on mule ewe lambs to tup knowing that we have stronger texel x mules lambs at home to tup, and trying to keep the best grass for them too.

We are the same got plenty of texel x at home worth not very much so will tup more of them but still need a few miles to breed them. We like ewe lambs from the first sales as they are the best pick and growers younger lambs and slower growing ones go to the later sales to be run round. Also we like them on our farm before they get chance to be run round by someone who doesn’t do too much with them and they get lame and shitty arses that crop later
