Ewe nuts

Looking for a little help, trying to do a comparison on which ewe nut is better to feed to our ewes this year. There is only a few pounds difference in price but seems a big difference in the ingredients. Just wondering what other people’s views are on each of the feeds.
Many thanks

As above, I'd be looking for one with decent soya inclusion instead. I changed to a dearer roll for my early lambers this year, which had 15% wheat distillers and 14% soya, albeit at £30/t more than my previous 'premium' roll. I have 2/3 of the quantity and the ewes have milked far better than usual, making better use of the forage, and doing their lambs better as a result. Cost per head has been significantly lower.

If I was forced to take one of the above, it would be the top one, purely because it at least has Megalac and some distillers dark grains in it. Neither very good though IMO.

Top one, but both have a very high ash content. Ask for the energy content for both.

Are they both NWF

No not nwf. Two feeds from two different companies, the bottoms one is from the company we have used the last couple of years, but have noticed they have taken the soya out this year, which is what is making me look at the whole ration contents this year.

Unless copper toxicity is an issue, just feed dairy cake. the trouble is, there are far fewer Agricultural Merchants who sell it in less than bulk quantities.

But it has always been of better spec than sheep or beef cakes. It has to be.

Yes , soya is getting frowned upon , but f'it for now ; it works . Agree with Neilo's comment totally ...
My ration (from memory , as not feeding yet , but same spec this year) in descending order ...... Wheat , Barley , Soya , Rapemeal , SBPulp . Molasses , etc . Yes , likely £20+/tonne more than crap , but use less of it and the ewes perform . It's value for money that counts , not initial face-value cost / Tonne !!!! Too much sh1t sheep feed on market , 'cos loads of 'dull' farmers buy on Price .... Oops or what , but true !

There's sheep feed and sheep feed, the same as there is dairy cake and dairy cake. I've seen some awful dairy nuts before now, which were little better feed than the silage they were replacing. Cheap though....

Yes I remember seeing a dairy cake which consisted of wheatfeed,pk,Rapeseed, sunflower and that was it and I think it was 260 a ton
