Ewe off colour after lambing

Have one of our pedigree ewes lambed a couple of days ago with twins. I knew she had one quarter, she's old has bred really well and just wanted another daughter before we got rid, lucky she has had one of each (ram/ewe lamb). However, since lambing the duff quarter, which feels blocked in the teat, firm band running through it, has swelled up, its cold and hard, like mastitis, and its is clearly painful as she's very dull. Had loads of milk in other good quarter, but now as she's off her food, she's slowed right down. I'm topping the lambs feed up by bottle, one will go on the machine, hopefully not both!!
I've jabbed her two days ago with alamycin LA as she was starting to look a bit poorly, then as i could see the problem more clearly yesterday and today given i've given her flinixcin! Normally would treat with pen strep for mastitis type problem!! but gave alamycin before it became apparent!
Anything more I could do? Or different approaches?

One of the above is what she needs. Not sure there is that much to chose between them.

These sheep die, quickly.

She really needs some Micotil/Draxxin/Zactran/Zuprevo/Tylan.

If it's cold it's serious.

Crikey. I was going to post that I'd give it a shot of Tylan (& Metacam), or get her to a vet to get some Micotil (how many sheep have suffered unnecessarily since that was made vet only I wonder?) into her, if she were mine. I thought I'd get b*ll*cked for suggesting it though.

No - because otherwise she will die. I suspect the only reason the sheep is still alive is the Alamycin it has already had.

Couldn't get micotil! but got draxxin into her! Phoned vet this morning he said that he doesn't even have micotil in stock any more due to the tight regulation!

Something that did seem to help make her seem brighter last night before the jab was uddermint I know it won't help treat her but she was definitely brighter for it!

As the ewe has slowed up milking on the good side, would you put her both lambs on the machine or just one hoping when she picks up the milk will return!! @neilo

I'd be topping him up so that he's used to sucking a test, then you can always drop him into the machine bunch with no bother if she doesn't pick up in the next few days.

Tbh, the prospects don't look good if the quarter was cold and it's knocked her sideways. She might drag one up, but I'm guessing that's not really what you're after somehow.:)

I did some rough calculations years ago, comparing the extra concentrates I was giving my early lambing ewes to get them to milk for two, compared to the cost of milk powder to a 5 week weaning for one and leaving a single on the ewe. There's not a lot in it and the creep cost will be similar for early lambs reared either way.

I'm topping them both up for now and moving one to the machine tomorrow! May leave one on her and top up! But she has very little milk in the good quarter! I'll give it a few days to see if she starts eating, she was milking like a train in that quarter first couple of days, and probably end up moving the other over too! As you say not looking good! But I'll try a few days to see what happens!
