Not if you breed your own, and yes the price to be costed inIf you want to keep number the same you'll have to buy the normal amount.
Of course that's an option, but it's not a possibility at this time of year if you don't already have your own home bred sheep on the ground. Not if you breed your own, and yes the price to be costed in
Its far easier on the actual accounts ( money paid out, or not as the case maybe )
Could have gone at the height of the hog £ storm, That makes them dear !!!
In it for the long ride, so you win, you loose. But imported disease, foot rot, worms ect, kept at bay
Well worked out good adviceIf you want to keep number the same you'll have to buy the normal amount.
Suffolk mules been fairly short this year, been a struggle to find enough shearling replacements, I think most got hung up in the spring. We have kept more Suffolk crosses out of mules back. Mule are just a bit to high depreciation atm, saying that we will have kept 280 mule theaves.
It must have been very tempting for most when they were worth £200+. I almost killed mine but would have had to buy some back in.Suffolk mules been fairly short this year, been a struggle to find enough shearling replacements, I think most got hung up in the spring.
Yes, you can’t blame people for doing it, I guess most of those kept were doing a job keeping grass down where there was no other (easier) way.It must have been very tempting for most when they were worth £200+. I almost killed mine but would have had to buy some back in.

Doesn’t seem to be many lambed shearlings sold around our part.Or in lamb
I was very hard on our hoggs in the spring when I was getting rid of the end of lambing culls, barren things and a old ram.It must have been very tempting for most when they were worth £200+. I almost killed mine but would have had to buy some back in.
October trade will be a good bit different to the trade at the moment thats for sureI sold my draft Shetlands to a price I as happy with. Not yet decided what to do about replacements.
Do I use the same budget and accept less ewes?
Buy cheaper ewes?
Buy the same number of similar quality ewes and spent more?
Have a year off buying ewes?
I killed all my empty ewe hoggs, and anything that failed to rear. Those that reared are in good order and I'm happy with them. And I've weaned 600+ ewe lambs this year. Option D is looking good, but will see what the trade is like in October.
