Evening all,
Was changing coolant in above machine today and about 10 minutes after adding flushing fluid to the system, noticed some leakage coming from the main cap of the expansion tank. Temp gauge needle also started to 'flick' between both extremes. Leakage was not excessive and everything settled again after a few minutes and was fine until she reached operating temperature. At this point I drained fluid again and added water when she cooled, but the same thing happened again a few minutes after starting engine. Was also a little bubbling in the tank.
Question is, is it likely to be my turn to have a head gasket Issue? The flickering temp gauge made me question was it a thermostat issue, as only one rad pipe seemed warm to the touch. Is it best to get a kit and do the sniff test to give a definitive answer, or could it be something else????
Tractor has done 7900 hrs and had no issues with coolant up to this, apart from small top ups, but is only on light duties and is never worked hard.
All responses appreciated!!
