Export agreements

Had 3 solar systems put in over 12 months ago.

Part of the agreement with the supplier was that they would sort out the export side of things. Disappointed they are taken so long to sort, although export quantities are quite small. The meters are all export compatable.

They are are saying we need to sign up for an MOP (£160/year) and a DCDA (£269/year) for each meter. Is that right and do those figures sound in line?

They are also suggesting to sign up for these services for 10 years with an RPI increase annually. I'm not sure I like the sound of that. They say it locks in it, but that's only good if the starting cost is good!

We look to have about 30,000 units per annum of export. At £0.10/unit that is £3,000 but it will cost £1,287 to get it.

Any thoughts?

Sadly you and your installers are completely correct . Metering companies are fleas on the back of the industry. the meters cost under £200 each and monitoring by other companies can be done for £15 - 25 a year . However we haver to bend over and accept whatever charges these sharks want to charge. It is a disgraceful state of affairs

Sounds about right we are paying £280 a year for dcda and online platform, £256 a year for mop which is for 5 years contract. Was like £600 to do just a 1 year contract.

What time period would you be happy to sign up for. They suggest 10 years but say they could do 5 years.

Is there any opportunity to export all through a single meter? Might be worth the cable spend and could have other benefits eg preventing import on 1 meter and export on another.

It's 10 years ago now, but I bought my meter outright (£299 Iirc) and just pay £45/yr for 'maintenance'.
