Extinction rebellion; what would you do?

How many threads/ posts on here bemoan corporate control of the food chain ? Are they anti-capitalist ? Or are they suggesting that we need to correct perceived imbalances in how our 'free market' food chain operates ? There is a huge overlap between what farmers want and what the environmental movement wants. All the time you are slagging them off, the real enemy are laughing all the way to their off-shore bank.
You're missing the point. They don’t want solutions they want revolutions.

Democratic capitalism is far from perfect, and we should always strive to improve it by identifying and dealing with monopolies, cronyism etc, but all of the alternatives, especially those favoured by XR and their cohorts are a lot, lot worse.

We have a fuel depot here, just been out to chat to the driver.

His boss told him that 3 van loads of protesters have arrived again, as have extra police from Manchester to help out. Dread to think what that’s costing the tax payer.

Further, police asked local coffee shop to supplY refreshments for protesters (paid by police) but got told to sod off due to circumstances.

As a result a mobile van has been brought in to keep them fed and watered.

I hope their intention is to spike the food with laxatives but suspect not.

Read that last week alone, the police said it cost £1m to monitor and make arrests at the depots and refineries never minding the London demos.

Trouble is, even the arrested just get a slapped wrist and are immediately back on the protest.

Personally I’d bang them up with a sex starved con with a massive Hampton

We have. And you will recall that I explained that in my waste management days we refused to collect plastic for recycling specifically for the reasons you state.

Your sweeping assessment of environmentalists holds as much water as 'all farmers rip hedges up and pump slurry into rivers'. The environmental movement is on your side. Get over yourself, accept it, and work with them.

Quite correct, you did state that.

Notice the difference to what you say and what is actually happening in the real world. Note that "Environmentalists" are NOT fixing problems AT ALL.

Take note that "Electric Cars" cost so much CO2 to create they need to be driven - at their specified best performance for 100,000 miles before they reach parity with a Combustion engine - then take note that when driven on a motorway thier performance is 50% less.

"Environmentalism" is just a word, actions do not match the words.

Take note that your words do not match reality, Environmentalists do not even understand how their food gets on their plates, never mind how the whole world around them depends on Fossil Fuels.

Yes. XR wish to see fossil fuel emissions reduced. Best way to do this is to bring food production home.

In a year, a typical family of 4 will emit 4.2tonnes of co2 from their house, 4.4tonnes from their car, and 8tonnes from the production, processing, packaging and distribution of the food they eat.

My figures. References available.

Even if everyone was emitting no CO2 it would NOT stop the world from getting warmer.

The infatuation with CO2 is just there to create a financial exchange in London & other cities to make lots of money for already very, very rich people - whilst at the same time making EVERYONE else poorer.

It's happening NOW.

Bollox. I asked them why they were silent about the agriculture bill and they replied "agriculture wasn't exactly frontpage news" and "they weren't interested in politics". So there you have it, a bunch of aimless wasters looking for headlines
“Aimless Wasters” excellent description of them.
Slightly off topic.
I do wonder how many of them go for a walk in our lovely countryside, listening to the birds, admiring the countryside on a regular basis, and if they do,what do they find wrong with it, how does it not come up to their “idealistic countryside”. What do they find so awful about agricultural practices as they go about their walk?
Oops I forgot most of them go for a walk with an earpiece headset inserted in their ear playing music,so they can’t hear the birds , then turn round and say farmers are destroying our wild life.
At least they can’t hear animals belching methane in to the atmosphere :banghead: :mad:

XR meeting I was at, there was everyone from a young lady with a substantial farming estate through to an old boy with an allotment. They don't want a revolution, they want a food system that more highly regards and rewards our farmers. And all you lot can do is take the p!ss.

Face facts. We are 1% of the electorate. On our own we are fecked. There is no point putting our wagons in a circle, we don't have enough wagons. We need allies. I believe that our allies are to be found in the environmental and social justice movement. Most on here believe that they are to be found in the boardrooms of Tesco and McDonalds. Time will tell.

You are completely deluded in your thinking, take a look at the other thread on here regarding Supermarkets.

Are you going to tell us that "most" XR friutloops love farmers.

To repeat. Most on here see Tesco and McDonalds as their allies.
Go read the 'eating out' thread.
Go ask an NFU member why they do feck all from one year to the next to get their national representative body to stop sucking up to Tesco.
