Ok, so I'm think I'm going to have to join Facebook :nailbiting:

Is it possible to join without all the social rubbish that comes with it? You know old school friends and people you'd rather not bother with. Feel like I'm missing out on a fair bit of useful stuff to follow so is there a way?

Many thanks

Find it kind of strange when folk who rarely speak in real life suddenly want to be a 'friend' on FB - bugger off, have a real life conversation with me/others.
It is useful to chat with those who are real friends, perhaps not chat, but share an odd thing or two with, and as above there are the odd gems on there.

I suppose it is the 'friend' title which winds me up.

ive not logged on in years contemplated starting a new account but then some things/groups you need to be invited into and then I can see it just snow balling with friend requests blah blah so I've not bothered yet!!
It is frustrating when links are shared and you can't view them

One of my friends ,every morning will put the the same thing on her page ,,morning from ------,,its raining,,a sunny day ,,its windy ,,Im off too where ever ,,we are just back from dog walking ,,good hearted she might be but it get irritating reading the same thing day after day .
Then you will allso have friends ( a term I use lightly) who keep secrets from you but forget if they post onto one of their friends account ,,you get to see it aswell ,,thats when you find out what they are really like .Be carefull what you comment on and who you say it to as it can suddenly go pair shaped

You don't have to accept friend requests you know.....
Ill only accept if I know them personally or just latley one or two members from here ,,one thing I dont accept is friends of friends of friends as they are likely to invite into some group or other ,or all they want to do is empty their problems onto your page and I don't want to hear about every medical or emotional problem they have

Just join under a pseudonym or whatever and just 'Like' pages and join groups of interest, don't accept friend requests, that way you get to see all the stuff you're interested in and none of the everyday garbage from randoms you don't even know...works for me :)
PS that way is no good if your a nosey so and so who likes rifling through other peoples lives like a lot do..;)

I liken finding useful stuff on FB to trying to catch a £5 in a tornado of other folks rubbish, selfies & pictures of their dinner.
With all the "other stuff" that is on it now it knows where you are, who is near you and similar `ollocks. Its Big Brother with a nice name.......and millions fell for it.

I have 2 accounts..... one is me with most of its functionality turned off....the other is for "keeping an eye" on folk. ;)

I got the little one to register me last week as there was a specific page I wanted to watch.
I am amazed, and appalled at the amount fb seems to know about me. The list of suggested friends include people I have not even thought about for decades. Where on earth did it find the connection and what do you do about the 'friends' you actually make a point of avoiding?
Do all these people now know I have a fb account?

Having said that, I have apparently got two Titter accounts, whatever they are. I did have a look a few months ago and it seems that I've made one or two tits. More precisely, my daughter has for me.
Will need to check them again before the end of the year.
