can it be done without tuition
hope so as got to be done by end may
I ignored it last year as they dreamt it up in the middle of harvest

Yes, it can be done without tuition. This year it is mainly based on RB209. Have the organic manure, arable and grassland books to hand. Either hard copy or PDF (Ctrl f is useful[emoji6]). I think you get two attempts, and the time allotted goes quickly if you're having to search through the books for the answer!)

I've provisionally booked to do my FACTS qualification this coming winter with Dr jim. What is involved people have said to read and memorize rb209 but is there other stuff I should learn before hand??

Also they say it's harder than basis is this correct???

Different to BASIS. More of a short sharp shock, lots to learn very quickly. Where as BASIS tends to be longer with less intensity. You need to keep up with revision for both though.

I agree with this. BASIS is a broad subject but FACTS is narrower and more in depth. Don't worry about memorising RB209 but know how to use it & where to look up the data on what you require. Expect to be doing a fair bit of desk based recs and adjusting them for winter rainfall, previous cropping, manures etc.
