Fair cost of pork?

Hello!
Tomorrow I will be collecting the pork from our first 2 weaners.
Question - what is a fair price for 2 free range outdoor Berkshires who were 7 month old boars?
They were in excellent health, given all care and were not even stressed when we took them on the 1 way ticket.
Without getting political, what is a fair price per 1/2 pig?
Thanks in advance.

Personally, and in the nicest possible way, I'd not want a 7mth old boar.

I understand your reluctance - I raised this issue with the breeder and in the 30 years she has been breeding Berkshires - she has never had an episode of boar taint (and she has published), plus she never sends hers off until 8 months...and I am happy with that record.

I agree, they have to work before boar taint is an issue. I've killed 9 month olds and never tasted it. If you can smell it on a living boar, you will taste it in the meat.

We sell around 60 pigs a year butchered, to pubs and households. Never had an issue with boar taint and most of our would be 6 months plus at slaughter.

We tend to sell ours by individual joints as find a lot of people don't want that much meat in one hit but the flip side is it can take some working out to make sure you dont have bits left over no one wants. We would sell half a pig butchered into basic joints for 180-200 depending on weight.
