I've wasted more than enough time trying to get these simple bird scarers to work, but it's doing my head in because it won't work! does anyone know how to get it to work every time.
So the variables are..
1, duration of the gas
2, the distance from the gas outlet nozzle to the chamber....not sure why it would need a gap but it's adjustable so guess it's a factor.
3, the spark plug length and tip gap.

I can hear and smell the gas as it goes in, So that's working. I can hear, and when the plugs out I can see the spark, so that's working.... But together they won't work[emoji35]

I've 2 of them, and neither want to work!

Did you ever get them working?? I have exactly the same problem. The worst piece of kit I have bought!

Lover of rope bangers here ,,,,, may be expensive in comparison but the pigeons see you in the field every day and seem to work for me whereas when I used gas bangers it seems that the pigeons use it as a dinner gong

Portec bangers are as bad. We have 4 and the best one is the oldest 1 with no fancy circuit board.
The other 3 are beyond rubbush. All had new circuit boards and ignitors and spark plugs and are still temperamental.
Rope bangers are the future.

Check the battery, even if the gas is coming out they'll need a good one to fire, can't just run them off anything.
battery is good enough to start a tractor and can smell gas yet no ignition, I will take the jet out tomorrow and seen if it is partially blocked. I've been and borrowed a portek scatter bird this afternoon and it is banging away like a good un !!!

@motrac3a I got this from Dave at Fairbang may be helpful. It got mine sorted last year.

To get the banger working follow these tips
1) check spark plug gap should be 2mm or £ coin width , lot bigger than used on cars etc
2) hold thread of plug against bolt which holds gas jet and block in place , turn gas OFF and press test switch you should here valve open and see spark as buzzing sound lasting about a third of a second .
3) Next check gas jet and block , undo bolt using 13mm spanner and drop block and jet out , take jet out and check hole is clear, hole size is 1mm do not drill out oversize or it wont work .
4) Repalce block and jet ensuring that the jet is level with the bottom of the airholes .
5) Check down barrel for any nests etc filling chamber
6) If still no bang try a different regulator from a working banger with a 1 bar output
One of these tips should sort the banger out if not then I will need it back for servicing

Hope this has been of help
cheers

Went to see why my Fairbang wasn't banging today and found this.
Can't decide if it was sabotage or suicide?

Do yourself a favour and buy a Bangalore instead. Those Fairbangs were the bane of my life most cantankerous things every. If I had know that they would self destruct I would have put them altogether in one heap.
