What’s the proper procedure please? Should the crankshaft pulley come undone and slide along the pump drive shaft or do I need to remove the pump. Started as a small job. Keeps getting bigger. Thanks

Once you've removed the four bolts holding the shaft to the pulley, you put two back into the threaded holes and tighten up equally and it will force the hub off the crank pulley.

Then it either leaves enough gap to thread a belt through, or you can pull it out of the pump end, which is the best idea anyway so you can see the state of the splines.

Put a couple of spare belts on the shaft which you can carefully tie out of the way for future use.

No 7 is the part your are removing, possible with the radiator in but a lot easier as you've got it.

I was trying to turn those bolts in to force the hub off but it seemed to go very tight. Anyway I oiled the splines and tapped it about a bit and it seemed to help it move along the splines. Thanks for confirming. Didn’t want to push the pump guts out.
