Big dog
Geese

Anything noisy and active. Cameras are unfortunately a waste of time.

I agree re cameras - they're not much cop, and the intruders dress accordingly to remain anonymous.

I had all sorts of intruder problems (every few weeks) until I had one of these installed.

Mine is set up so it is triggered by either the workshop door opening, or a light beam being broken. I got someone in to do this for me.

Since it was installed three years ago, there was one break in and they left immediately as it's impossible to stay in there with the noise level.

I can highly recommend them.

Thinking about this a bit more, unless you're pretty clever with rigging that kind of stuff up, I'd recommend you contact a security firm and get them to do it for you.

Avoid the 0845 type big national firms as they'll charge silly money. Try and find a local guy who'll be able to properly assess what you need and give you a fair price.

If you were local to me I'd happily recommend my chap. He installed the Master Blaster, door sensor, light beams and control panel, and all wired in and working for £1,000. Ok, it sounds a lot, but three years without people breaking in means it was money well spent in my opinion.

My grandfather had a barn with poultry and cattle. To keep it protected from pesky intruders at night, he was suggested a handful of cameras. But, he installed a fully functional CCTV surveillance camera system with home alarms that get triggered if something wrong were to happen. The cops are alerted through some centralized system (I honestly forgot what it was called). This didn't cut the costs or anything but was certainly an investment for the long term.

@OP, if you're from Canada, they have various outlets from where you can get the surveillance system. Good luck and stay safe.
