Farm shop from a catering trailer

We are thinking about creating a small farm shop selling your basics vegetables, berries etc using a catering trailer. As it would be be mobile and could be towed away does anyone know if we would need planning permission? I have tried phoning our local council who were totally unhelpful and unable to give me a clear answer without submitting a form and paying them £250! Just wondering if anyone has done something similar without planning permission?

Thanks.

I find it hard to believe the LA licencing dept cannot give you the right information - I would write a letter and copy it to a few depts (incl environmental health etc). As far as I know its mobile and not there 24/7 therefore no permissions necessary Unless you are selling on LA roads/laybys in which its a public road. If you are a member of the NFU/CLA give legal a call should be able to get the facts.

You WILL need the EHO to inspect you. Not sure where you are based, but most of Wales now has the "scores on the doors" certification. You will be expected to have a full HACCUP in place. If you trade over into another county, you may well need the OK from their EHO as well.
Dont forget to be fully insured for Public Liability. There is always a customer who will claim they found something dead in a bun!
