I’m potentially looking for a tenancy in the south west. Can anyone recommend the best places to look as this is new to me? TIA.

Devon county council still have council farms.
Google is your friend .

You would be looking at a march 2019 start date now.

Main agents would be Stags, Greenslade Taylor Hunt, Kivells.

Lessor ones would be Seddons, Townsend, P Heard, plus a few other.

http://www.tfa.org.uk/ maintain a list of available tenancies, its not complete but is probably the best out there, you have to be a member to access it but they will also review your applications before you submit them. Farmers Weekly + Guardian have them advertised but there are always ones you will miss.

http://freshstartlandenterprise.org.uk/matching-opportunities/opportunities/ often advertise opportunities but I don't actually know anyone who has got one and think its probably a bit of a scam, which is a shame as they've had quite a lot of funding from various sources.

Cornwall County Council have 3 tenancies coming up for a 2019 start; they'll be advertised in September.

All the county councils & land agents. Dorset CC are selling one of their farms just down the road from me. The usual suspects for the agents - Symonds & Sampson, Staggs, Savills, S&P, Greenslade Taylor Hunt, Kivells etc.

From the little I've seen of it, word of mouth plays a big part in land sales; asking on here is a good plan.

I have very little respect for land agents.

Not entirely sure yet, looking for options! Would also be keen to manage a flock/herd if I could run my ewes alongside (and happy to downgrade numbers).

Any specific areas of the SW? It’s a big area that varies a lot in climate and farming.
