Reports today that Covid is in our village!:nailbiting:

Guy allegedly had been to London to visit his brother in hospital in London.

plonker!
My missus is friends with a guy who got his mate brought up from London by chauffeur driven car to escape the virus (there is a lot more to it than that so please don't judge too harshly) They spent 14 days in isolation together in the guys flat isolation now over and they wanted to go out for a walk, the friend from London needs supporting and they couldn't figure out how they were going to do this and still keep 2m apart.
My missus (who really is as thick as two short planks!!) explained to them that as they live in the same flat they don't have to keep separate.
Guy says quietly to her " Oh bloody hell, I've been making him eat at a different table to me all this time".

I just said I can see how you are friends with him. :D :D

Been a wee while since I've had anything of my own stop, but I make up for it by putting old trucks in places they probably shouldn't go, and pulling revs they shouldn't pull @Karliboy :D
They don't like taking off downhill and then finding traction, very hard on diffs and axles, I break a front diff every year and average 3 axles a season (if it makes you feel better about yourselves)

Rain forecast tonight and tomorrow so my grazing wheat and Barley should get going without water.
Sheep just started lambing.
Hoping to get time to go fishing when the rain stops so I’m happy I won’t be breaking the law.
Had 40mm at home since Sunday arvo and 24mm on other block 5kms away.

5 - 10 mm forecast for this arvo & 20 - 40 mm for tomorrow

@Karliboy - I just thought I’d explain, these couple of planting jobs for neighbours are for grazing cereals ( barley & winter wheat ). Still too early for any grain crops of my own. Don’t normally start here till May, through to July. If we go too early we can get hammered by late frosts in the spring at flowering
I once lost 1000 acres ( sounds bigger than 400 ha :ROFLMAO: ) of barley due to frost, so I’m a bit gun shy . . .

I will plant two thirds of my county to winter crop this autumn, about 50 / 50 wheat ( figure that everyone who has gotten rid of their cattle will be planting barley, so feed grains may be under pressure by end of year & that high protein milling wheat is more likely to be in domestic & export demand. Australian wheat is always in demand for export markets, partly due to its low moisture content, lack of disease & high protein. Quite often it is blended with other country of origin wheat to bring them up to spec ) & chickpeas.

the other third will be summer crop this spring / summer. Ruled out dry land cotton at this stage as corona has really cut all discretionary & luxury spending ( clothes / fashion ) & I think there will be a LOT of people out of work for a LONG time, so new clothes may not be their highest priority . . .
So - it will be one of or a mix of either grain sorghum, sunflowers or mungbeans

14 mm last night and we had 7 a few days ago. Should get the grazing crops going, but I could do with more.

Wool has had a big price hit too, but world suply is down and it has time to recover by my next shearing.

I’m putting in half wheat and 1/4 Canola. Barley, oats and a small area of faba beans and chick peas making up the rest.

Had 13 ewes in my twins mob lamb now. One must have been a drafting error and only had one, one lamb stillborn and one with a huge lump on his back died last night.
23 live lambs from 13 ewes is pretty good and I hope my survival rates stay this good.

So
Who’s more arrogant ?
Old blokes ?
Or Farmers ?
How about an old farmer ?

As I said before, because we are all working in isolation, my mower is in a shed at the showground & the show ground has now been locked down for a week.
Brought the mower back to service it & knock off for the day. Shed only about 200 m from the gate I came in, so just dummy locked it as I came in, as I would be leaving again in about 15 min. Chain wrapped around gate, a do not enter sign & a yellow & black barrier board across driveway.

Blowing down the mower, look up & a 200 Series Cruiser has pulled up. Old mate hops up, straight up to me, in my face ready for a yarn
Me - whoa, back off. Social distancing, Corona & all that. You’re not even supposed to be in here.
Old Mate - Doesn’t worry me, I’m a 71 yr old farmer & I need to get some horse sh!t from the stables. The gate was unlocked
Me - the gate was closed with a barrier board across it & a chain wrapped around it. If you’re 71 you shouldn’t even be leaving your house, you are in the high risk group
Old Mate - oh I’ll be right, I need to get some horse sh!t
Me - ok, but see that white Hilux ? I’m leaving in 10 min & if that ute is gone, then the gates are locked

anyway, I finished blowing down the mower & went for a drive around the show ground to make sure he wasn’t still there before I left & locked up

some people . . .

I know alcohol is a regular theme on this thread but why in hell is it considered an "essential service"?

It'll be increasing the domestic abuse significantly with all the abusers in lockdown with their victims.

more to the point, why are hairdressers essential ??? WTF ?

seriously though, it must be sheer hell for partners or children stuck in abusive relationships ( I mean, it would be sh!t always, but no where to escape now ) at the moment.

Apparently it is not uncommon for the abuser / controlling partner to claim to have Corona to force the whole household into isolation & lockdown

now, that is a real shitcunt act
