Welcome to public sector management. When does your first "diversity" training session take place?

I was never strictly speaking managing the men, I just specified the work and liaised with their supervisor to get it done, but I always had a great relationship with them. They all knew I wasn't scared of getting my hands dirty and that I'd support them in management discussions (well, most of them).

Respect goes both ways.

this new role is still very much a physical, hands on one. P & G is a small department of only 10 based at the depot, including our supervisor / overseer. We come under the umbrella of “outdoor infrastructure” & “recreational facilities”
The main role of the team leaders is taking some of the admin & outdoor supervision tasks from our supervisor & also being able to step into his role when on leave, sick, RDO etc . . .
We will still be line marking, grave digging, mowing & cleaning toilets. Just getting paid more 😁

HR still have to sign me up for a Cert 3 in Horticulture & see how many units I can skip for “recognition of prior learning”

Standard arable slipper farmer.
He will be off on his skiing holidays next Just you watch 😂😂😂
Hahaha - different world here.
livestock farmers just have a few saddle stains / horse sweat on their jeans, arable farmers are usually covered in oil & grease from fixing broken machinery, covered in dust or chaff from harvest, or soil from crawling around on their hands & knees behind planters looking at seed placement 🤣
