We only have 8 to ten inches of soil .
I have had a 20 tonner dig as deep as she would go, and still no rock.
On top of the bump has rock but here is pretty deep, probably why we have springs and under-runners with water pouring out of them.
It will have been ex- tussock and scrub country, the lie of the land makes it warmer than where you would find the moss-banks (luckily)

Quite interesting and telling graphs...

But then the good ol’ BBC can’t help but stick the boot in right at the end!

Absolutely no mention of how much greenhouse gas each activity removes in a year though. It's the NET impact of each activity that matters.

And they persist in quoting the impact of "beef" which is mainly from CAFO's (Feedlots) rather than, inconviently to them, pointing out that different beef production systems vary enourmously in their impact. :banghead::banghead::banghead:

how many threads are there "what will I charge" for access, for pulling a truck out of a bog, for being a decent human ? It surprises & saddens me . . . :(

I have said it many a time - and one only needs to read a lot of posts on here to see just how far we have gone to remove ourselves from respecting one another.
As you state - it is a real sad state of affairs, BUT; fortunatley for us (me etc); there are still some genuinely kind people out there that will help out, support when the sh!t hits the fan, or even simply having a little talk to another person if they feel they are up against things :)

Yes, it's about as scientific saying as saying that, as air travel is a major polluter, then travel in all it's forms (including cycling, walking) must be bad.

That's the shame of it. There seems little balance, or rationality in this debate....too many single issue pressure groups and vested interests....and closed minds.

Things can change in time though....didn't the "health" benefits of smoking used to be actively promoted?

Only in the very loose definition of the term

Don't knock yerself hcf - some alledged chippies couldn't do better, trust me - Ive seen their work

Reminds me - need to get some plastic fittings ordered to sort out the plumbing shite that I have found for our house in a field supply, as it froze last year, and I was supposed to get it sorted by now......

That would be a bit warm for the climate, I would have thought... Still, plenty of nice ventilation, I suppose. And no midges to make you skip and dance.

Just poisonous spiders, etc...

Now the wheels of my brain were ticking the last day or two.

In school I was quite interested in chemistry and it brought me to mull over what exactly happens to the lime which I have been applying.

In my simple thinking I had the thought that if it is neutralising acid then there must be a gas emission,I.e.carbon dioxide.

On a quick google I came across quite an interesting article.

It’s a bit heavy on the grey matter however very interesting.

Anyhow Roy Boy - Why you wearing a Jock Dress, have you hidden links to the motherland

View attachment 744448

haha - Motherland is correct. My mother was Scottish, never gave up her British citizenship or passport.
I bought that kilt in Edinburgh in about 1990 ? Although I did have to buy a new jacket & waist coat about 15 yrs ago as the original seemed to have shrunk :scratchhead::whistle:

I did have "Right of Abode" status in the UK in the late 80's - 90's, because of mum, giving me freedom of entry into the UK ( via the Brit passport line, not queuing up with the "foreigners" :ROFLMAO: ), lived & worked there for 3 years, pretty much all the rights / benefits of UK citizenship apart from voting ( hardly a loss ) & ease of entry into the EU ( that would have been nice (y))
I don't know if Right of Abode still exists or wether I could still claim it.
At the time, if my father had been a Brit citizen, I could have claimed full citizenship
As it was my mother, I was only eligible for Right of Abode
I know other people my age with a Brit parent, or who even came out here as small children, have had different results for applying for ROA or citizenship, depending on which year they applied. Obviously the rules & criteria change over time . . .

by the way, anyone heard from the Master Builder lately ?
