who gives a feck they were not the only reason and not a very widely held reason as far as I can see
what you put up was a load of sh!t anyway cos the british stopped colonising half the world long before the eu was bloody well formed, different people or are we all responsible for what our ancestors did ? what did your lot get up to ?

“Hey Pom, your ancestors brought rabbits a foxes to Australia and NZ! You’re a c*nt!”

“No, my ancestors didn’t leave the UK! Your ancestors did, so look a little close to home for the blame!”[emoji4]

It seems fashionable to blame Britain for all historic ills and expect modern day Brits to wring their hands and feel sorry for it. What a load of shite! I wasn’t around to cause the offence and those offended are long since dead.

As for Brexit, I’m sick to death of hearing about it as are most of the population. That why the Tories got the landslide, because we just want it over with one way or the other.

You are right to be proud of your country, and the rest of the UK as well, I'm proud of mine, I never said you shouldn't be. The thing is that bigots and racists had a much bigger effect on the referendum than the powers that be ever envisaged.

The only other country giving us a run for our money on the colonization stakes are the Spanish/Portuguese.

That’s all just ‘modern history’ the Romans, Eygitians, Greeks and Mongols were the real experts at empire building.
Indigenous is relative. As Henrar says, we all invaded somewhere at sometime as Homo sapiens. Immigration fears are more economic than racial imo, but It certainly helps if you can physically blend in a bit to start with.

From previous.
Need:
Food, air, water, arguably shelter and clothing for a human.
Want:
Anything else.

@holwellcourtfarm ,@Kiwi Pete ,@Farmer Roy ,@hendrebc ,@onesiedale ,@Agrispeed .

Which is the best video out there to explain the fact that managed grazed livestock sequester more carbon than trees?

Also is there a video explaining how trees take in and store less carbon as they get older?

The guy I cycle with is in some of the policy making loop advising organisations and government on the environment.
He was surprised when I educated him in the fact that trees are really not that great at locking up carbon.

I just want some videos to forward to him to explain the points.

Heading to Aus in two weeks. What sites or news channels would be best to know where the wild fires are or road closures etc. I m guessing Blue Mountain area is bad at the moment ? Thanks

Not all videos but try these links for starters:

and this video is not brilliantly presented but explains why methane should not be counted in the same way as CO2

And this video lasts 45 minutes but puts the whole methane vs CO2 debate into perspective (Dave Frame is a leading Professor of climate studies)

Also you should point out that:
  1. Trees take between 5 and 30 years (depending on species) before they start to sequester any significant amount of carbon from the atmosphere whereas changing to appropriate grassland management can start drawing down carbon next year!
  2. Whether the carbon captured in the trees stays there depends what is done with them: harvesting them for biofuel does NOT mean that the carbon is removed from the atmosphere long term
  3. Grasslands managed well store their carbon in the ground making it safe from wildfires, unlike trees.
  4. Grasslands are still producing food while sequesting carbon unlike most tree planting (I have not heard the tree advocates suggest that the trees planted should be fruit trees).

This should provide him with some helpful bedtime reading.

ABC Local Radio ( 702 am around Sydney, but various frequencies across the whole country ) is the best for media updates.
NSW Rural Fire Service “Fires Near Me” app
NSW “Live Traffic” app for road closures
