we would have had to learn to farm , with no oxytocin . starving and then over feeding just before calving , used to cause a lot of swollen undders in heifers .
Consistent feeding is where it's at, stock do that by themselves if you get it right.
Bit hard for them to manage that if all the feed is brought to them, though, and even worse if they can't balance energy/protein, the rumen is a cow's only true "boss"

if I’d have taken a pic before I pulled it out, it would have been worthy of a Today At Work post

it will never be paid back . no tourism is going to make life interesting. hard to find some one with no connection to it . i am going to lose some work because of no tourists .
NZ looks like it'll have to rethink the whole economy after this. THAT could cause a few scratched heads in Wellington!

IIRC tourism has been running at around 30% of the nz economy

I can think of a few smartarse comments but will keep them to myself.

I think we're both going to hell now
No worries, we'll all meet up there for a yarn round the fires ;):ROFLMAO:

I know very little about dairy cows and oxytocin. But having some on hand would sometimes be handy for a very rare ewe that doesn't let her milk down or to tighten everything up after a turned out lamb bed or something. But I manage fine without it now so I probably wouldn't bother even if I could get as much as I wanted.

why is it always assumed that WE are upside down ?
Maybe it is the Northern Hemisphere that is upside down ?

reading TFF, it seems most on here have their head up their arsès, so maybe they don’t know which way is up anyway:ROFLMAO:
You are the ones claiming to be the men from down under.
Agree on the second bit though. I have pretty much the entire forum on ignore except this thread.

not wishing to be pedantic at all, but Colin Hayes ( the lead singer & someone who’s work I admire & am a fan of ) is actually Scottish . . .

WE never claim to be or consider ourselves as “downunder” - that is purely a northern concept

great song though(y)
