Our mid summer forecast isn't any better than your mid winter forecast. ☹️

Hi @Farmer Roy, have you ever seen a combine mounted “weed seed pulveriser” in action in your part of Aus?
Some trials going to start this year in the UK to see if the weed seed pulveriser helps reduce grass weed seeds germinating.

I haven’t personally seen one, or know of any in this part of the world. I believe they are pretty successful in Western Australia & other areas that don’t have as a diverse cropping rotation as us, in destroying rye grass seeds which have become a major resistance problem
They do take a bit of horsepower to operate though

I posted some videos of youtube in
Copping thread.
Blackgrass for idiots.
I seen one working on a case in WA 2019 it was made by Ray Harrington ( ihsd seed destructor)
When the chaff came out the back it was like talcum powder. yes it was making the combine work and slow it down and use more fuel but the benefit will out way the combine performance.
All comment it will get in the uk will be the same when straw choppers was first fitted on combines.
that’s not going to work .

No good having one’s head stuck in the sand, so good some progressive farmers are giving the idea a try.
The chaff cart seems a good idea but may not be feasible with the amount of chaff produced with higher European cereal yields.
