Farmers Guardian Vegans

The Farmers Guardian FB page had a nice story about a 20 year old cow recently, and as is often the case vegans from around the world swooped in to insult/abuse anybody who had anything positive to say on the subject. In this day and age if you even play a song with the lyrics untouched people are up in arms but this lot seem to think it's acceptable to hurl "rapist," "murderer," "abuser," etc. at farmers and nothing will be said. Why do farmers have to put up with this while the same level of abuse to a gay, disabled or black person would be classed as a hate crime?

The good thing is that social media isn't as powerful an influence as people think as we found out when Boris won the election against much hostile social media coverage which turned out to be storm in a tea cup.

I reckon switching it off (BBC included) and ignoring it is probably the best approach and getting on with making our businesses efficient and environmentally friendly.

Let them rant and waste their energy. Not many people actually take them seriously.

Keep your head down and carry on.

I must admit that I too am sick of the sight of these vegan trolls touting their rapist, abuser, murderer lines at every available opportunity.
I normally try to ignore them but today it got the better of me and I responded to the person in question with what I hope was some form of integrity (although probably wasted on her). :banghead:
Heard nothing in response as yet.

I was told that the worst thing you can do is respond to them because it just feeds their ego and the way social media works the more responses they get the further it spreads the crap.
Yes, I know. The missus tells me often enough. Just sometimes can't be doing with their lies and accusations.

It is a more general society/social media problem, everyone is a keyboard warrior and intolerant
Also it’s a bit like football hooligans giving football fans a bad name . The vast majority of vegans are good nice people it’s just some of the angry ones who “hate “ meat eaters giving them all a bad name. Mind you some of the angry farmers can be as ignorant and hateful as them.

Preferably in a darkened car park with no CCTV?

The official line at work when dealing with nutjob protesters/"activists" is "don't engage with them". Far easier said than done when they're screaming "baby murdering b@stards" at you outside the DSEI trade show.

I just laugh now, rapist murderer whatever abuse they want to call me, I just sit back and think I hope one day they never get raped or murdered as they may have the wrong idea of what’s going to happen to them. They aren’t going to be marinated but they may well get stuffed!!

Calm reasoned debate is the best response, you will never win the argument with them of course but that doesn’t matter, it’s the opinions of all the others looking in that you’re really trying to win over and if one side is using insults whilst the other is using reasoned arguments, most reasonable folk will form sensible opinions from what they have seen.

Talking to a yank vegetarian last night, he said one of the reasons he didn't like eating meat in the states was the way they hung the animals to make them grow more. I eventually worked out that he meant that the cattle were suspended in harnesses as it took the weight off their limbs so they could grow faster. I pointed out the cost of doing it and the pressure sores that would develop would make it uneconomic, he had never thought it through and just believed some vegan propaganda. I think he had possibly seen a downer cow harnesses or something. This is an intelligent person who runs an internet company, but a city person.

They are very inventive when it comes to that kind of thing.

There not much hope when common sense is in such short supply, mind you in the positive side they should be easily gullible enough to part with their money some how.

Friend of my daughters was in the other night,he said that he had stopped eating meat because of concerns for his heart health (his uncle died of a heart attack recently). He then went off to the chipper and came back with deep fried pizza, you really can’t teach stupid!!!
