Trouble is is that if you do not vote, you disenfranchise yourself so my opinion (which is worthless) is that the 24% saying they’ll not bother to vote are wrong.

Vote or spoil your ballot paper but to do nothing invites trouble.

The farming vote is small enough as it is, with Quite a number declaring they’re not going to vote, there isn’t a lot to gain for them trying to win the farming vote, be careful what you wish for but apathy won’t do us any favours.
I will be voting as usual, wether I vote “for” someone or “against “ by voting for someone else will be decided much nearer the time

It’s an article written by someone who clearly doesn’t understand British politics.
We vote for a constituency MP to represent our constituency.
If you are in a strong Tory seat and you allow them to parachute someone in like Truss, Barclay, cameron etc, people who have no interest or affiliation to your constituency at all, then don’t be surprised when those MPs ignore the very people who allowed them to get into the House of Commons in the first place and just side with central office.

make the party you vote for put in a local constituent as an MP. It makes a massive difference.

it’s one thing to not vote, its equally as bad to just vote for a party for the sake of it, then complain that the roads/schools/doctors etc in you constituency are terrible

The farming vote is small, but it probably controls 30 odd constituencies around the country. Tory head office know this, that’s why people like Leeds native Liz Truss is a Norfolk MP

Ms.Truss was parachuted in by tory head office, local views & local candidate were over ridden. Hence the " Turnip Taliban" name came into being, as it was opposed at local level, but to no avail.

Fair enough; equally true is that, in all but maybe just a handful of seats, even if every single farmer votes one way their collective influence is irrelevant. We need a different and more democratic voting system for a 'collective voice' to be a real rather than an theoretical thing. And that extrapolates to other groups too. (y)
